Along with a whole host of other serious health concerns, smokers are very likely to snore. This means that you are not only damaging most of your internal organs by smoking, you are also greatly hindering your body’s ability to naturally repair itself while you sleep. It definitely shouldn’t surprise you that smoking causes snoring [...]
The Best Way To Quit Smoking: Replacement.
Many people use various “stop smoking aids” to quit smoking. Many of these things can and do work, however, replacement alone often works very well. The best way to quit smoking is often just having a good replacement. (Just make sure your replacements are healthy!)
1.Water
Water is one of the best replacements you can find. Try it after your morning coffee, as well as after alcoholic drinks. Take it with you in the car. Take it everywhere, and drink it every time you have a craving.
2. Juice or Other Drinks
Use it in the same way you use your water, just use it sparingly, since many juices and other drinks are high in sugar, which is another bad habit to get into.
3. Gum
Chew some gum every time you get a craving. This is really great for long car trips, or the car in general. Bonus: you can chew gum in lots of places you can’t smoke. (Note: If you are chewing nicotine gum, make sure you stock up. You don’t want to get stuck without it.)
4. Take a Short Walk
Physical activity is a great replacement when quitting smoking. Take a short walk outside or around your office or home to get some air and relieve some stress. Just don’t bring your cigarettes.
5. Pushups, Sit-ups, or Jumping Jacks
These are all great stress relievers just like walking, only a little more intense.
6. Learn Something New
Stop whatever you’re doing and spend 5 or 10 minutes reading up on your favorites hobbies, or learning something interesting online. Make sure your breaks are productive, but different from your daily activities. (And also make sure to limit yourself to only a few minutes as this can be a serious drain on your regular productivity.)
7. Brush Your Teeth
Brushing your teeth not only keeps your teeth looking great, it’s a constant reminder of how white your teeth are becoming since you quit smoking.
8. Read The List Of Reasons You Quit Smoking
Get an index card and write down all the reasons you’d like to quit smoking. Fold it and keep it with you always, reading through it every time you think you need a cigarette.
9. Nibble On Something Healthy
You will be extremely pleasantly surprised at how much better things taste even a week into quitting. Fruits and vegetables you may have considered bland before take on a whole new meaning as a non-smoker. (This also goes for your sense of smell. Stop and smell the roses. Seriously.)
10. Call Your Quitting Buddy
Have a conversation about something else. Commiserate. Whatever. Just don’t smoke another cigarette.
